Orlando Pirates signs new striker

Orlando Pirates have added another star name to their ranks, this time in the form of a lethal striker from the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Orlando Pirates announced the signing of forward Jean-Marc Makusu Mundele from AS Vita on a season-long loan with an option to make the transfer permanent at the end of the season.
Makusu was due to join Moroccan outfit RS Berkane last year for a fee in the region of R7 million after scoring over 40 goals for AS Vita Club in 2018 however a lengthy injury prevented him from moving up north. Orlando Pirates have since secured his services until the end of the 2020/2021 season.

“Makusu signed earlier this week after passing his medical and initially joins on a season-long loan, which includes the option to make the transfer permanent at the end of the season.”
MAKUSU RARING TO GO
Makusu’s continental experience will provide Orlando Pirates with an important edge ahead of their 2020/2021 CAF Confederations Cup campaign. The former AS Vita striker scored 18 goals and assisted a further three goals in his previous two continental campaigns.
“I am happy to have joined this prestigious club and I look forward to a successful stay.” – Makusu said following his arrival at the Buccaneers.
“This move presents a new challenge in a new country for me. I have lofty ambitions and I am confident that I can achieve them with my new teammates.”
Makusu will be competing with the likes of Zakhele Lepasa, Gabadinho Mhango, Tshegofatso Mabasa, Kabelo Dlamini and Terrence Dzvukamanja for a spot in the Orlando Pirates starting lineup.
